It’s been quite a long time now we’ve passwords to log in and perform any social or transactions involving something really valuable-Money. The payment gateway service providers have immensely secured their logins in order to maintain the security of the user data. But the fact is, we hate passwords.
Here’s a thing brought by Google that will comfort you, Google has recently confirmed that it is testing the password free login. Rather the user will be sent an authentication message to which the user will have to respond in order to log in.
Considering the number of account hacks and parsing into one’s account, this is double security against account threats. This is similar to yahoo’s Account Key which was launched with the same idea of eliminating the password trends, globally. Unless you maintain a real brain-cracking password that’s next to impossible to guess, you’re hacking prone.
Methods like 2FA, USB-authentication (a token saved in the USB, which you will have to verify on your phone) but this couldn’t leap through the minds of users as they needed more convenient ways to log in.
How does password-free login work?
You will need to add your email address and then the notification will prompt on your phone to confirm your login. Approve the login by tapping “yes” and done. This is a step towards speeding up your login and improving the security too. This will further help people who have their mobile devices along with them all day long while using the Google services. When tried phishing, Google has a backup plan that manages this attack and Google has named it password alert. The gist of this was posted on reddit by Rohit Paul.
A google spokesperson said:
“We’ve invited a small group of users to help test a new way to sigh-in to their google accounts, no password required. ‘Pizza’, ‘password’ and ‘123456’- your days are numbered.”
There is no need to login with a password, but there is always a option to login with a password you’ve set in case you do not have your mobile with your, battery runs out or anything to be considered.
In case of any suspicious activity, you may have to follow a step or two to verify that it’s really you. You will need to remove the device access in case you lose the device you use to login. Google has confirmed that the user can always turn this way of login. For now only a less number of users are invited to test this new feature and google has no plans of when this feature will be open for more users.
Things are changing with the time and tools and features will further smarten in the time to come. Google will always surprise users with every small bit of the feature update. It’s time to say bye bye to passwords and enter the era of password free login.
